Summary:

Three months following the sudden disappearance of Marlo the Revelator, the mysterious conglomerate of gangs known as The Council finally reveals itself and its true intentions, casting the gangs back into the mayhem of war. Old and new enemies test the limits of David, Juan Carlo, and Allen as they lead their clubs, discovering the true power of The Council while uncovering the secrets that hide beneath their enemies. Their tales of moral challenges, romantic entanglements, and brotherhood are saddled by warfare, betrayal, and heartbreak. Themes of social responsibility clash with the world of organized crime as we reach a climax in this series of unending enthrallment.
Passion, heroism, tragedy, and enlightenment speak to the soul in this novel. With Sterling's continued captivating method of storytelling, brilliant dialogue, and analysis of the human spirit, every bit of literary greatness can be discovered within American Parable: One at War.

Review:

First of all I need to thank the author that sent me a copy of this book, because we still can't get it in Italy. And I am so mad about it because I enjoy it so much.
But let's start from the beginning: reading this third book was like going back home and finding all my old friends waiting for me to fill me up on what happened while I was away.
The characters are great, complex and super realistic: Allen, David and Juan know that they're doing what's best for their gangs but are full of doubts and fear for the lives of their brothers. And that's amazing. On the contrary Nolan and Curtis don't, and that's why they must be fought!
I loved how every faction had their specific reason to fight but they all fought together in the end for a greater good. And I love all the talk about having a family with children!
In my opinion this is the best book of the series: it is full of action but also full of feelings. Maybe it's me, but in this book I cried (silo scene T__T), I cheered for everybody falling in love in this book and I was disgusted more than once, which seems a bad thing but it's not because you're supposed to feel like that for what Curtis writes and does.
My only critisism to this book is that I would have liked to see more steamy times. I mean, if a reader can stand to read about Curtis and people getting murdered, he/she can also read about sex scenes. It would have been a little more balanced. As I said, it might just be me!
I would like to say a lot more but I'm scared to spoil something accidentally and that would ruin your experience.
Seriously though, if you're thinking of continuing this series but you're unsure, give it a go and you'll be blown away. I can't wait to read the next installment to know what happens next!
